Ok I’m knee deep in my first Rails app atm. I’ve learned a lot - which at some point I’m going to corral into an article….
There is one thing at the end of the tunnel which makes me a little nervous. I’m not entirely sure the best route for deployment. Part of that also ties into the question of how does Rails scale.
To be honest - I’m not that terribly worried about this issue. So far everything I’m looking at works (from a deployment side) just like PHP which thanks to Yahoo - there is proof that you can handle a boat load of traffic. Of course the app I’m working on won’t get a boat load (more like a thimble full - which is the other reason I’m not terribly worried at this point).
This whole scaling thing seems to be a hot topic out there - and probably more so because it is an easy thing to throw out there to say - Rails sucks because it can’t possibly scale -
I would love to argue against it but instead I’ll lean on greater minds than my own -
Scaling Ruby on Rails < - exposes the dirty truth - it's the developer who is the problem most of the time
It’s boring to scale with Ruby On Rails - This one is from the guy who wrote Rails…
