LWN: Who maintains RPM? | September 9th, 2006
Wow - look I haven’t been a fan of RedHat since RedHat 7.2 - and once I got introduced to Debian I’ve never looked back. Now that I see this sort of thing about RPM it doesn’t make me regret that choice.
As you read the comments you’ll find out that both Suse and RedHat maintain their own branches internally.
Which of course means that RPM isn’t really the standard it is presented as - which I probably would have know already if I’d ever bothered building RPMs for anything other than RedHat.
