Got home tonight from work - listened to a very depressing Sept. 11th edition of Marketplace. Got out of my car in my garage and smelled something funny. I opened my box freezer and be hold
I have a special regulator that keeps the temp control for the freezer. Apparently at some point it fell out of the freezer. So instead of stopping at 45F it kept going and going until the thing couldn’t get any colder.
The casualties :
2 kegs of home brew white beer I made for a beer class I was going to teach at work
1.5 cases of Maple Hop - a special beer we brewed for teach a friend to brew day -
and an amazing collection of specialty beers that aren’t available here - some aren’t even available in the US (forbidden fruit - and 2 bottles of Book Oude Kriek ) - I brought them back from Belgium. ( 4 bottles of 10 year old Chimay and a six pack of Divine #1)
I’m letting it all thaw out just to see if any of it is salvageable
Totally sucks - guess that means I”m going to have to get back to brewing soon to refill our stock pile…. but at least now the freezer will be easy to move.

Dude - that sucks! You need to tape that regulator in - duct-tape!

Dirk, I have the same setup. What a freak accident! I don’t see how that would happen with my setup, but I’m about to tape that puppy down.
I hope all is well!

The crime against humanity…I think the freezer should be burned and taught a lesson!
