This guy cuts up books (which makes me sad) to expose their visual complexity (which makes me happy). I’m probably drawn to this because I am a bibliophile, but also because it resonates so strongly with one of my favorite art pieces in the world The Mural that stands at the center of the Coates Library at Trinity University in San Antonio.

I tried to use the Flex SDK 3 with sun’s 5.0 jre – got a bunch of seg faults. Annoying… Not least because I hate wrangling Java….
I found this article. from back in 2006 about Flex 2 and Ubuntu.
Turns out the solution was pretty similar.
I already had java 6.0 installed.
I modified the mxmlx file
replacing the line with
JAVA=/usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun-1.6.0.06/bin/java
$JAVA $VMARGS -jar "$FLEX_HOME/lib/mxmlc.jar" +flexlib="$FLEX_HOME/frameworks" "$@"
now the example build…
I’ve had to make some adjustments to the Rock Band drum kit to accommodate my legs and feet (since I’m apparently larger than the target audience)
I also found the drum sticks light and uncomfortable. Someone recommended I look at getting bigger sticks – so now I have a collection.
Can I just say it was a weird feeling shopping for drum sticks in an actual music store and seriously hoping no one asked me any questions about my kit!
